Women in the Church

Encouraging one another in love

Equipping each other for good works

Connecting one another in fellowship

1 Peter 4:10-11a

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”

WIC? What is WIC?

WIC is Women In the Church – all of the ladies at FPC. Women of every age and stage are members of the WIC. The WIC serves, often behind the scenes, to support the work and worship of our church in many ways. Are you looking for a way to get involved in the Church, a way to get to know other ladies?

Try serving on one of these committees!

WIC Council is composed of a small group of ladies who pray for the WIC program, plan WIC fellowship events, seek Session approval for the yearly program of study for Bible studies and Circles, and provide opportunities and recommend resources for spiritual growth.

If you’d like to help or want to provide flowers, please sign up on the bulletin board or contact Victoria Duckworth (601) 942-4641. If you’d like to help specifically with decorating for Christmas, call Judi Bell (662) 289-4761.

  • This committee serves to keep WIC apprised as to any new ways that we can better serve our church family as related to our children and youth. We as WIC serve to minister to them through an organized church-wide dinner on the grounds celebration of a Communicant’s Luncheon in September and a Senior Graduation Luncheon in May.

  • This committee supports families during the difficult time following the loss of family members by sending cards on behalf of the WIC and by organizing a meal for the family at the time of a funeral. To assist in reaching out to these church families, please contact Jeanne Oliver (601) 416-8703, or Andra Mooney (662) 739-2879

  • This committee works to support the Helping Hands Ministry in our community by assisting in their fund-raising efforts by decorating a table and collecting FPC food for the Holiday Tasting event in November and assisting with the Mother’s Day fund-raising event in May.

Contact Joe Carballo, (601) 668-2910, to lend a Helping Hand.

  • This committee assists the church in finding housing and meals for visiting missionaries, special speakers, WIC event speakers, and visiting preachers. If you would be willing to help organize or to volunteer your home or table, contact Lois Hayes, (662) 571-4051.

  • This committee gets to see all of the new babies in our congregation! Committee members have a crib Bible prepared and present it to each new infant at their personal church baby shower. They also organize the provision of a week of meals for all new mothers and go on a “check-up” visit to see how the family is adjusting to their new little one!

  • This committee serves the whole body at very specific times – during a Baptism and during Communion. Members of this committee fill and place the Baptismal bowl before a service and then return it to storage after use. They also are responsible for setting up for and cleaning up after Communion. Detailed guideline is available at the church office.

  • This committee makes a special effort to be a contact person for first time visitors by phone call or home visit. They also serve to love the members of our church who can’t physically worship with us by visiting our elderly and shut-in members both at home and in care facilities.

  • serves as the contact for bridal parties in our church. Members implement the guidelines for brides and weddings at FPC. (The document with these guidelines is available in the church office.) If you are interested in this committee, contact Deborah Templeton (662) 582-2442.
